Third
Party Administrator Services
PRI Background
PRI is the second largest provider of medical malpractice insurance
in New York State. Now entering its 25th year, PRI
insures over 12,500 physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors and
dentists as well as a myriad of healthcare facilities and organizations
for both primary and excess coverage.
PRI is a licensed and admitted New York State carrier. Policies
are non-assessable and both claims-made and occurrence forms
are available. In addition to providing insurance products,
PRI also utilizes the services of its administrator, Administrators
for the Professions, Inc. (AFP), to perform claims management
services for hospitals, captives and insurance companies.
PRI’s offices are headquartered in Manhasset, Long Island
and contain over 55,000 square feet of modernized office space.
Additional offices are located in Rochester, just minutes from
the Rochester Airport.
All claims investigators and risk management surveyors are seasoned
professionals who are subject to PRI's high standards of performance.
A sampling of some of the services we can provide follows below:
- Record,
examine and promptly report on each claim, as well as any
reserve established therefor by AFP at a frequency and format
to be established by client.
- Establish
and maintain a claim file for each reported claim containing,
among other things, documentation as to the coverages applicable
to the claim and such other documents, reports, logs or
communications as required by client’s guidelines
and/or necessary for AFP to fulfill its duties under the
terms of the agreement established with client.
- AFP
will negotiate favorable fee structures on behalf of client
with outside counsel, court reporters, independent investigators,
expert witnesses and such other vendors as may be necessary
to the investigation and handling of claims.
- AFP
will, at its sole cost and expense, monitor and track all
legal fees and expenses.
- Perform
reasonable and necessary administrative and clerical work
in connection with reported claims.
- AFP,
at its sole cost and expense, shall report all claims on
monthly bordereaux reports which reflect the status and
change of status for each claim.
Please consider
using our TPA services for one of the following scenarios:
- A
self-insured hospital that wishes to convert from using
its risk manager or counsel to adjust the claims.
- An
insurance company that is in run-off.
- Captive
insurance programs
- A
client whose legal fees for claims require aggressive monitoring.
